
The Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Kayode Ojapinwa, alongside members of his management team, paid a one-day working visit to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation Lagos office as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration in the fight against financial crimes.
The visit provided a strategic platform for strategic discussions focused on curbing fraud within the banking sector, with particular emphasis on safeguarding the interests of investors, depositors, and the Nigerian economy at large. Both institutions engaged in robust deliberations aimed at enhancing intelligence sharing, improving investigative processes, and fostering a more coordinated response to emerging financial threats.
Speaking during the meeting, the Director of Bank Examination Department, Adedayo Olukoya, commended the Police Special Fraud Unit for its professionalism, dedication, and notable achievements in tackling banking fraud. She further emphasized the critical need for sustained and effective collaboration between the NDIC and the PSFU to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
In his remarks, CP Ojapinwa reiterated the Unit’s commitment to proactive policing and strategic partnerships, noting that effective collaboration remains a vital tool in addressing the evolving dynamics of financial crimes. He stressed that no single institution can successfully combat fraud in isolation, hence the importance of synergy among key stakeholders.
