SPECIAL FRAUD UNIT BUILDS ON EXISTING PARTNERSHIP WITH CHINESE CONSULATE

CP Eloho Edwin Okpoiakpo, BSc, MILD, paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos where he was received by the Consul General Yan Yuqing; to  strengthen international cooperation in combating fraud and other forms of transnational crime. The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest, including training and capacity development, intelligence sharing, technology and enhanced operational cooperation.

Discussions focused on the need for continuous exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices to address the increasingly sophisticated nature of financial and technology enabled crimes. The engagement was used to explore opportunities for training exchanges, professional development and the use of modern investigative technologies to enhance the capacity of the Unit’s Detectives to effectively combat, investigate and prevent emerging financial crimes.

The Commissioner of Police thanked the Consulate for the support and calls for sustained institutional collaboration, timely information sharing and international cooperation in tracing illicit funds, identifying perpetrators and disrupting criminal networks operating across borders. He added that the Unit remains committed to strengthening strategic partnerships with diplomatic missions to achieve a safer society and more effective response to emerging security threats.
