CP Ronke Okunade has officially taken on her role as the new Commissioner of Police at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos. This announcement was made by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ovie Ewhubare, who confirmed that Okunade is the 31st CP, succeeding CP Godwin Omodeinde, who retired on April 4.
Ewhubare stated that Okunade began her tenure on Wednesday, and she is originally from Ogbomosho North Local Government Area in Oyo State. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan and joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Throughout her career, Okunade has held various significant positions, including Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, and Deputy Commissioner of Police. She has also served as Commandant of the Provost Department at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos and has experience in multiple divisions across the state.
In addition to her extensive field experience, Okunade has participated in numerous training courses both locally and internationally, covering topics such as leadership, human rights, and community policing. She is a Fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies.
Upon her arrival, Okunade received a warm welcome from the officers and staff of the unit. She expressed her gratitude to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and emphasized her commitment to professionalism and legal compliance while also encouraging public cooperation with the unit.
